Russian Orenburg mayor orders evacuation due to ‘critical’ flooding

Local authorities in Russia’s Orenburg region in the Urals urged residents of coastal communities to evacuate on Friday as rising water levels in the Ural River flooded villages and caused a dam to burst. In a video message posted on the messenger Telegram, Orenburg Mayor Sergei Salmin called the situation “critical” and residents of coastal villages should evacuate immediately.
