Smog in New Delhi becomes more intense due to raging farm fires

Toxic smog engulfing New Delhi intensified on Thursday as fires raged in nearby fields despite a court-ordered ban, making the Indian capital once again the world’s most polluted city. Pollution levels have risen since earlier this week after a brief respite and discussions on further mitigation measures, but a plan to induce rain by seeding clouds to combat smog was shelved due to unfavourable weather.
