South Africa has surpassed 10,000 COVID cases

The South African National Institute of Infectious Diseases on Wednesday reported 10,017 new cases of COVID-19 infection. On the first day since January, the institute reported more than 10,000 new infections. Health authorities have warned that South Africa could be entering the fifth wave of infections caused by sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5 of Omicron.
