The oceans have become hotter, higher and more acidic

The world’s oceans have risen to the warmest and most acidic levels on record in 2021, and melting ice sheets have helped raise sea levels to new heights. Over the past 20 years, the ocean has warmed noticeably faster, reaching a new high in 2021, and is expected to get even warmer.
