Thunderstorms in Australia increase the risk of flash flooding
Parts of eastern Australia are set to see severe thunderstorms for a second consecutive day on Sunday, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned, with heavy rain increasing the risk of dangerous flash flooding. Over the past 24 hours, a wild weather system in southeastern Queensland and northern New South Wales has produced heavy rain, hail up to 5cm (2in) and wind gusts of about 100km/h (62mph).
