Toxic smog persists in northern India
Residents of northern Indian states woke up to another day of poor air quality on Tuesday as a blanket of dense haze blanketed most of the region and pollution in the capital Delhi remained severe. The air quality index peaked at 491 in Delhi, forcing the government to restrict vehicle movement and construction activities and urge schools to conduct classes online.
