President Tayyip Erdogan gave the go-ahead for Sweden’s membership after parliament approved it last week. Turkey is expected to send the final instrument of ratification of Sweden’s NATO membership to Washington soon. It is a move that clears the way for Ankara’s purchase of US F-16 fighters.
