The number of births in the US in 2023 fell by 2% from the previous year, thanks in part to a sharp decline in births among older teens and women aged 20-24. According to preliminary data from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the number of births in the US fell to 3,591,328 in 2023, down from 3,667,758 the previous year.
