US takes action to replenish Lake Powell

US officials have announced unprecedented steps to raise water levels in Lake Powell, a man-made reservoir on the Colorado River that is so low it threatens hydroelectric power production for seven western states. The Bureau of Reclamation will release an additional 500,000 acre-feet of water from the Flaming Gorge Reservoir this year.
