The World Health Organisation has declared Cape Verde malaria-free, calling it a milestone in the fight against the disease. According to the WHO, Cape Verde has become the third country in Africa’s most malaria-ridden region, after Mauritius and Algeria, to eliminate the mosquito-borne disease.
