WMO says more than 50% chance of La Niña occurring in coming months
The World Meteorological Organisation said on Wednesday there is a more than 50 per cent chance of a La Niña developing in the next three months, but if it does, it will be relatively weak and short-lived. La Niña involves a drop in ocean surface temperatures and could end a period of high temperatures that could make 2024 the warmest year on record.
