Argentina’s new president Javier Milei promises a new political era
Argentina elected right-wing libertarian Javier Milei as its new president on Sunday, betting on an outsider with radical ideas to fix an economy battered by triple-digit inflation, a looming recession and rising poverty. Milei won with 56% of the vote, compared to just over 44% for his rival, Sergio Massa.
