Water levels in Brazil’s Amazon port hit lowest point in 121 years due to drought
Water levels at a major river port in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest have reached their lowest point in at least 121 years. Rapidly drying tributaries of the mighty Amazon River have stranded boats, depriving remote jungle villages of food and water, while high water temperatures are suspected in the deaths of more than 100 endangered river dolphins.
